From Reddit user Naydawwwg, on this post here -

"In early cuts, the movie's opening detailed June Moon's posession by Enchantress in real tome. Reshoots reshuffled the scene to be later in the movie in flashback form in favour of a new opening centered on Deadshot."

"Deadshot in the prison cell, watching the rain fall and thinking about his daughter."

"El Diablo observing the flame of a lit match, before putting it out due to his vow to no longer use his powers."

"El Diablo being escorted to a training center by being placed in a tube that fills with water to quel his flames, and then unceremoniously dropped onto the ground."

"Early interviews showed Captain Boomerang's racism and sexism, but the movie is light on examples of such behaviour, which have apparently been deleted. Most of them were reportedly directed at Katana, to whom Boomerang is attracted to."

"Early reports indicated more backstory for Killer Croc, revealing that he entire life as a social outcast due to his physical appearancr and has convinced himself that he is beautiful in his own way. Croc crossed paths with Batman while working as muscle-for-hire for numerous Gotham's crime bosses, while secretly planning to take over one day. There were also scenes displaying his affinity for making sculptures out of discarded materials. Aside from jokes about Croc viewing himself as 'beautiful,' one of these were retained in the final cut."

"Also deleted was a scene where he becomes sick at the helicopter escort to Midway City, throws up half-digested pieces of goat, and then eats them again, disgusting the nearby Navy Seals."

"Early cuts reportedly included a passing reference to Slipknot being serial rapist, likely to further paint him as unsympathetic to the audience ahead of his own death."

"More scenes of Rick Flag and June Moon's romantic relationship, including him reading the files of the Suicide Squad recruits after Waller delivers them to him."

"Another scene where Flag and Moon are out on a date."

"Extended scene of Joker interrogating Captain Griggs, including the line, "I can't wait to show you my toys," which was in every trailer, but was removed from the movie."

"Joker and his men escaping after shooting up a restaurant. Harley, who is already affiliated with the Joker, follows them on a motorcycle and intercepts their car. Joker bangs his head against the glass in frustration."

"Joker and Harley then get into a fight, which ends with Harley pointing a gun at Joker's head. Joker sweet-talks Harley into lowering the gun, charming her, then backhands her across the face. Afterwards he sweet-talks her again and they kiss."

"Extended Ace Chemicals scene where Harley jumps into the chemicals. More bits of dialogue from Joker."

"Extended Batmobile chase scene with more interaction between Joker and Harley. One of the examples, presented in all the trailers, is the Joker punching the roof of his car."

"Harley using her baseball bat as a mock gun to play shoot at invisible foes."

"Extended scene of Joker breaking into the nanobomb manufacture facility to arrange for Harley's neck-bomb to be disabled."

"More interactions between Harley and Boomerang. Early cuts apparently included her really disliking him despite growing affectionate to all the other members of the squad."

"Extended bar scene with Harley taking everyone's orders. Deadshot calls for a shot, Katana wants whiskey, Croc and Boomerang settle for beer, Harley asks Diablo wants and he prefers water which she jokes, "is a good idea." The scene was featured in the trailers, but in the movie it cuts directly to Deadshot's speech about them all almost pulling the mission off."

"Removed several scenes with the Joker to repaint his relationship with Harley as more loving rather than abusive."

"Joker and Harley get into an argument after he rescues her in the hijacked helicopter. In early cuts he reportedly pushes her out to kill her, then the helicopter gets shot down. This was apparently reworked into the helicopter getting shot down first and Joker pushing her out to save her."

"Joker returns during the final battle in the subway station, face half-burnt from the helicopter crash, which apparently leads to a brief altercation with the Squad. He calls for Harley to escape with him but she refuses for once in order to help her friends, and the Joker escapes after throwing a live grenade at the group to cover his own escape."

Leto and Margot deserve the spotlight in a different movie. They both seem to really enjoy the characters, so I hope they get the chance to again.

I enjoyed the movie both times I saw it.

It was interesting to see the Joker/Harley relationship from the other perspective; with how much the Joker is willing to do to get her back. Perhaps the purring was a bit much ;) but most, if not everything he did was consistent with my formed image of his character and felt well placed in the film. His part wasn't as the villain in this context, but rather as her motivation to stay with the group and for that I think he received his fair share of screen time.

But I would love to see more of him and the rest of the Squad interacting with the larger universe too; however I'm not sure if that'll happen just yet.

Still haven't watched the movie, lol, but here's a list of Suicide Squad-related rumors about the DCEU going forward, from an article listing them (among many other DCEU details) from a now-deleted Reddit post.

Spoiler: show
  • There’s a funny scene after the League is assembled where Joker and Harley are committing a crime and they expect Batman to show up…when the whole League arrives. It’s really funny and Joker and Harley just stand there, not knowing what to do now. Kind of like a “Well…shit” moment.
  • The Batman film (right now called The Batman though they’re considering other titles) will release October 5 2018. Current plot has Black Mask as the main villain breaking other villains out of Arkham to kill Batman. Joker and Harley have a subplot involving a bomb to blow up all the inmates once Batman recaptures them all that results in Harley leaving the Joker because of the abuse and Batman trying to rehabilitate her. Deathstroke is sent in by Waller to help contain the situation so she can use them for her own means but Batman fights Deathstroke and promises Waller that he’s coming for her next. Deadshot is also in it but leaves the Asylum to be with his daughter instead of getting his revenge on Batman. There’s a really cool scene where Black Mask lines all the villains up and asks who will join him to get revenge (this scene will focus a lot on Deadshot’s reactions, making it clear he wants only freedom). Many of the villains get away in the end, with Batman promising to hunt them all down. The film will end with Batman overlooking Gotham and seeing one of the B-List villains (has yet to be decided) committing a crime.
  • Suicide Squad 2 will happen though after 2020, likely to be 2021. Will have a slightly altered roster. It also will not be directed by David Ayer.

*sigh* I guess this is the new DC formula. Make a movie, cut out tons of footage, then resell the whole thing with the cuts included for profit later.

I am glad that we're getting to see the many things they cut out, and now it'll be the film I actually wanted to see, but I'm really hoping this doesn't become a recurring theme (or more of a recurring theme than it already is).

Same here. I never liked this DLC thing, personally.
WB better learn their lesson. BVS, and SS could have made a billion(or somewhere near that), each movie.

BTW Will this extended cut of SS be rated-R too?

Honka Honka!
:)

But yeah, I don't this to be a habit.

If my memory is correct, someone from the JL set visits did mention Patty Jenkins doing a Director's Cut...

@BrunoBKMazing Box office for these films is surprisingly good. BvS underperformed but still reached $873 million and SS reached $739 million which is good considering it was a pretty unknown title but if they were good then they would have reached much higher. They haven't said anything about rating, only that theres roughly 13 minutes of unseen footage.

@Remote Claw They're already talking about an extended cut for WW or JL? This is really disappointing.

Also, WB confirmed, 13 minutes of additional content. I don't see this movie getting an improvement similar to BVS's. But, since I liked the butchered version of SS, I'm perfectly fine with 13 minutes only.

Seriously? Deadshot sequel? He's not a solo character in any shape or form. Why on earth would he need his own film? I could list hundreds of DC characters that deserve a solo feature before him.

I thought he was pretty boring in Suicide Squad too. Pretty one dimensional.

Three words: Will. Fu*king. Smith.

Despite the fact that I was able to imagine some kind of concept for his solo movie, I agree with you. Lobo, Teen Titans. New Gods. Secret Six. Constantine. All of these characters/properties are far more interesting to see on the big screen. But none of them feature the holy Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. oh well...

I like Will Smith, I liked his portrayal of Deadshot, but if he wanted such a big role in this universe, I feel like he chose the wrong character.
He would've been a good choice for Mr. Terrific, in my opinion.

Mel Gibson in talks to direct Suicide Squad 2

Okay... after what he said in the past about comic book movies in general, I'm very surprised that he's been considered as an option. Mel has proven himself that he can make some damn good movies, so I'd love to see this happening. But, I'm not holding my breath.
As for the other directors, I was thinking the other day that Ruben Fleischer would be good choice for this project. In fact, all these names have a solid track record. So, just bring it on.

Also, please! No more gangsta shit! no more Guardians Of The Galaxy wannabe! Make it Rated R, and make it good. PLEASE!

Mel won't sign on if he doesn't have alot of control. So if he is announced as the director I would take it as a good sign for the DCCU as well as for Suicid Squad 2 because Mel Gibson will make it fantastic. Mel is one of the best directors alive today and all we have to do is look at his last film Hacksaw Ridge to see that he can not only tell fantastic character driven stories but his action directing is pretty much untouchable nowadays (except for maybe George Miller and some others). Seriously the action sequences in Hacksaw are some of the most delightfully violent and superbly shot battle scenes I have ever seen.

Ditto. The battle scenes were so brutal, realistic, and awesome looking (a couple that was sitting next to me, left the theater when the battle kicked off lol).
I might not be a great fan of "The Passion Of Christ", but if you ask Mel for a good movie, he fu*king delivers. Just don't hold him back, let him make this film his own, and SS2 might even end up being an oscar contender movie.

Also, Mel himself just confirmed the SS2 talks.
Apparently, he's more interested in the cast than the material itself. Since the cast was the best thing in the movie, that's understandable. Man, this is getting so exciting.
