Huh, I thought DC released it. I guess what we watched was some sort of leak.

http://www.ew.com/article/2016/04/14/batman-killing-joke-animated-rated-r

Rated R

Batman: The Killing Joke isn’t kidding around. Warner Bros’. direct-to-video animated film based on the notorious Alan Moore comic has been rated R, the studio’s home entertainment division tells EW exclusively.

The Killing Joke marks the first film in the DC Universe Original Movie franchise to receive an R rating, and the second Batman movie to do so. (The extended home-video version of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the first.)

Starring Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Mark Hamill as the Joker, and Tara Strong as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, The Killing Joke is an origin story that finds the Clown Prince of Crime taunting the Dark Knight by capturing and torturing Batgirl. The original comic was published in 1988 and remains polarizing, with some hailing it as a definitive Joker story and others criticizing it as misogynistic.

Holy shit, it actually got rated R? I'm really curious to see how all out they go, considering I never saw the graphic novel as that, well, graphic. It definitely pushes boundaries, but a lot is left to the reader's imagination. I'm guessing Barbara's paralysis scene is what put it over the edge; though it may just be because of all the nudity.

From a stylistic standpoint, I'm getting the vibe that it's less like a Killing Joke adaptation, and more like an R rated BTAS episode.

Me neither...

Very likely because of the mature themes.

Well, Comissioner Gordon does get undressed against his will by Joker. Or they just say POW one time too many. I don´t know :oldyella:

I don't think we will see any actual nudity. Like NUDE nude. I would actually be disappointed if their is because its unneeded IMO. But the violence and suggestive material alone pushes it to an R rating.

Very excited for my second most favorite story coming to animation world!

BTW, am I the only one afraid that this movie will fall into the OP Damienverse? (cos I really REALLY will be disappointed if it is, cos I sorta hate that whole thing)

I am pretty sure that it is not set in the New 52 animated Universe. Every movie in it has had the same art style so far.

Oh... and his name is DAMIAN not Damien. Is that really so hard to get right? :oldyella:

I've ordered some of Alan Moore's other work in prep for this movie. I've already read TKJ so I figured I'd make myself more familiar with his work.
I ordered Watchmen and V for Vendetta.
