Arkhamverse World Championships: DEATHSTROKE TOURNAMENT

Postby Red_Robin » Feb 26th, 2014, 12:55 pm

The Batman Arkhamverse World Championships return in March!
You voted for the character you wanted to play as and the overwhelming victor was DEATHSTROKE.

To enter, all you have to do is play Batman: Arkham Origins challenge maps as Deathstroke, log your scores on the scorecard (available below) and take a photo of each score (examples above).

Once you’ve done that, e-mail a scan/photo of your score card and score photos to tournament@arkhamverse.com.

Your scores will then be turned into points and you’ll be ranked against the other entrants to determine a winner.

Remember, as well as being named the best Deathstroke player in the world, there’s also a prize for the winner - good luck!

Competition runs for the entirety of March 2014. The winner will be announced in the first week of April 2014. Arkhamverse.com reserve the right to disqualify entrants at any time.

Hey Red Robin,

Sorry, I am not sure I can post here in sticky thread.....But please delete it if it is inappropriate.
As you may know that I'm new to Arkhamverse. So, don't have an idea about previous championships and the terms and conditions. Just want to ask you few things....

1. Do we have to show proves for our scores such as videos, images etc?
2. Do we have choice to try these challenges unlimited times?

I'm an average player (but not below average) and I am not expecting that I win anything but just want to participate if possible and also part of this big verse! :) :adam:

Lila ska. Question for both me and GK as we asked the same one last comp.

We suck at combat maps. Is it going to be one winner for combat and one for pred or both combined?

-Yes. Use the scorecard to show each score as you get it, just like the examples in the main image.
-Unlimited attempts as long as you show us the photographic evidence of each score.
-Predator and Combat scores are converted to points and combined. One winner.

Hmm... I still haven't gotten my prize for that previous competition so I doubt I would get a prize here should I win, but I'm pretty excited to try and see if I can beat my previous record for 100-to-1 since I miraculously got the #1 spot on the PSN leaderboards :P Not so good with the Predator map though... but it's worth a try.

Thank you Red_Robin for making a new tournament.

I think turning the Predator and Combat scores into one score in a fair manner
will be challenging.

I have a suggestion for that:

For each map you get points which equal the rank
you have in comparison to the other fellow campaigners on that map.

Summing up all points (ranks) on the 8 maps gives your score.

The guy with the lowest score (best ranks) wins.

This ensures that all Predator and all Combat maps are equally weighted,
independent of exactly times and combat scores.

Scoring Explained (for those who didn't play Batman/Robin)

Using my round 1 scores from an old tournament as an example, combat stands as like-for-like points. I scored 110240pts on the first combat map, so I earn 110240pts here.

Predator is a little more complicated. After our first tournament, we realised that most people didn't need a five-minute cap, so we've reduced that to a two-and-a-half-minute cap.

Everyone will start at 300,000pts. Every lost second costs you 2,000pts. You're also penalised with a 100,000pt penalty for each medal missed. So that's zero points if you miss all three medals and zero points if you take longer than two-and-a-half-minutes.

In my example, I got all three medals in 1:10.72. Converting that to seconds, I would have managed it in 70.72 seconds. I don't get a penalty for missed medals, so I just multiply my time in seconds by 2000pts and subtract that from my starting point, which gives me: 300000 - (2000 x 70.72) = 158760pts.

Calculating my score:
I am making up some scores for the additional maps, but I've put the example scores from above in bold.

Combat = 110240 + 98765 + 213050 + 124655 = 546710
Predator = 158760 + 96645 + 217680 + 124600 = 597685
Total = 546710 + 597685 = 1,144,395pts

Everyone will then be ranked based upon their final score. I hope this makes sense.

Sorry, I don't think that's fair.
It clearly prefers combat maps.

Lets say you are damn fast on the Predator maps,
40 seconds for each (see "The Gotham Knight" last compet.)
gives you 220k points.

There are two extreme combat maps on the list.
On each you can easily double this score.

And in 100 vs 1 you can get 2 million alone (as "Bunkitz" showed).

In my suggestion you don't need a value like 300k minus something to compare.

Everyone has the same handicap and it's now spread out over 8 maps. It's never been more fair.

As you say, there are combat maps that allow you to get 300000 points, but there are also combat maps where 300000 is pretty much impossible, so it balances out.

I'm happy for suggestions, but this has worked pretty well before. With the eight maps, we need something that allows us to rank people based upon an overall total, not for each map - that's why we moved away from brackets in this instance. If we find that it doesn't work as well, then I'm happy to move back to brackets for the next tournament. :alfred:

I like your system since I favor combat.

Regarding the scores of the last competition and since
Batman and Deathstroke score equally thats not true.

So my bet is that one can win without doing any predator map,
just being very good in combat.

For me its fine... :oldyella:

Well then, they'd be racking up some major penalties for not getting medals in Predator. :oldyella:

Deadline extended until the weekend (purely because I won't have time to look at the scores until then).
